The "Refugee" or "Asylum" Application
A refugee is also known as a person seeking political asylum. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution due to their political opinion, religion, race, nationality or social group. This application requires giving good reason for the fear of persecution.
THIS TYPE OF APPLICATION NEED NOT BE MADE IN CANADA. In other words, a refugee claim can be made in any country outside of the refugee's home country. The process varies depending on whether the application is made inside or outside of Canada.
